Cessna 150-152 ClubAudio Files

2003 Landing at Oshkosh Kirk Wennerstrom and Royson Parsons flew in formation from Clinton to Oshkosh. This audio recorded from Royson's intercom during the last 15 minutes of the flight.  The recording is in real time, the space between transmissions was not edited!

Approach to Ripon, Controller #1: Length of recording: 5 minutes 36 seconds. A talented and super busy controller herds airplanes from all over the Ripon area into a single file line over the railroad tracks approaching the first checkpoint, Fisk. Pilot's are told not to talk on the frequency, but some insist on doing so, including one who feels it is important to let the controller to know his airplane is not just a "low wing" but a "Classic Mooney."

Approach to Fisk, Controller #2: Length of recording: 3 minutes. A New controller comes on board and is quickly overwhelmed. A Navion in front of us gets too close to the airplane in front, and has to make a 360 for spacing, merging and reentering the cue. The 2nd controller only lasts three minutes before she is replaced by a more hyper male controller.

Fisk to Runway 9, Controller #3: Length of recording: 2 minutes 24 seconds. A third controller takes over. This guy talks so fast he doesn't seem to be taking time to breath. The Navion Pilot fails to descend to 1,800 ft as instructed and is sent out of line for another 360 before merging back in front of Kirk. Some gems: "Rock your wings...OK, That was a tenuous rock, ROCK EM HARD!" Concludes with the Ominous..."Ok, we're shutting down Ripon, we got too many airplanes, nobody else past Ripon..."

On Final Controller #4: Length of recording: 5 minutes 20 seconds.  The runway controller takes over. Kirk has to drop full  flaps to avoid running over the still confused Navion that has failed to expedite as instructed. Royson is first instructed to land on the numbers and then told to "Keep it in the Air" and extend to the green dot. (includes short discussion in the cockpit between Royson and Lori "Where's the green dot?!")
