In my opinion, the parking situation had several issues, none of which proved fatal...

1. We have previously been afforded the use of RWY 14/32 to access the main parking area from the northeast. That makes it very convenient to have the nice, orderly rows that we've seen in the past. This year, not only was that runway not available to us, there was a construction fence quite a ways back from the runway that further limited access, plus the demolition of the VASI mounting areas.

2. The large gulley that ran diagonal most of the way across the parking field also limited the parking and taxiing areas.

3. It is very much desired to have the parking grid laid out prior to lots of arrivals. It seemed that everyone (with a couple of notable exeptions) arrived a little later than they had planned due to weather, or mechanical issues, or just because they got out later than planned. It's difficult to lay out a parking system with planes on the field already.

Perhaps next year, we'll again get ahead of the arrivals, and get the grid laid out. Additionally, we fully expect to have RWY 14/32 available to us for easier access to the parking area, as well as for use in staging for competitions.

Before, with Lori and Royson pretty much running the whole thing, there were a handful of volunteers that pitched in and laid out the parking area. This year, most all of that same handful of volunteers had taken on much, much more responsibility, and some tasks simply took longer to be accomplished. It will get better.
