Being relatively new to the club (Mar 2007), I was just wondering if we ever tried to create a calendar to raise funds and have some fun?

Each month featuring a specific year of the aircraft, group-fly-in, aerobats, taildraggers, noseart, snowcovered Cessna's, etc.?

From what I've seen, we have some incredible photographers in this club - and some of us who just get lucky once in a while and get a good photo. These days, you can put multiple photos on a page as well....

Just thinking here...have we ever attempted something like that? Would there be interest? MM

Just today I was looking at the Van's Aircraft calendar I have in my office at work, and was thinking, "Why doesn't the Cessna club put together a calendar?" Great minds must think alike! grin

I know I have seen more than twelve photographs from Clinton that would make excellent pages on a calendar (Robbie). We could submit nominations for pictures and the club can vote on their favorites for the calendar.

It would make an excellent fund raiser for seed money for some sort of fly-in. Hmmmm. Wasn't someone on here talking about that the other day? I can't seem to recall the details. wink grin grin

I'd donate all the photos ya want, as I am sure others would....but no way I got the time to do this one...

But it is an awesome idea! Done soon, it could be in time for the holly daze!

This could be outsourced pretty easy I would think. Shutterfly or someone has got to have a mechanism for this type of thing.

Any volunteers to seek out a way to do this that would not require someone taking inventory and putting out and collecting cash?

Or does someone want to take on doing that?

Google knows all:

Comparing Print on Demand Calendars: Café Press, Lulu, & Zazzle [ebsqart.com]

This was just a quick search, but it looks like at least three websites will print on demand (aka no inventory).

OK, I looked around some more, and there are lots of ways to do this without incurring any sort of inventory in your garage. That internet is pretty cool! smile

I think this wouldn't take too much effort, and would be willing to take the project on if no one objects.

Only thing about this is that there will be some folks that take offense - "Why wasn't MY plane included?".... that kind of stuff.

Ya can't please everybody I know. I personally like the idea.

This was floated a few years ago - why not make a calendar of the Airplanes of the Month? That would be cool, and especially appealing since my bird was AOTM in November 2005. smile But, it's difficult to find a new airplane of the month every month. Sure, some guys get new birds and really gussy 'em up... Bill Rourke come immedaitely to mind as does Jim Hillabrand.... Wayne Legend Reynolds.... Sandy... on 'n' on.

Hmmm... maybe pictures - memorable of course... of the past year's Fly-In... to perhaps keep the fire burning and well? Multiple pictures... say, three or so.. on the calendar itself and a big one or two on the top part... We're looking at say, 72 - 75 pictures in total and there are jillions of 'em taken.

What say? Just thinking out loud here.

$15 bucks plus shipping.

Comments?

Well Poobs, I might be biased but I would agree with the "past year's fly-in" approach given that the proceeds would seek to support the following year's fly-in. We could try to feature different planes each year. Formation shots would be a good opportunity to feature multiple planes as would positioning multiple photos on a page...as long as that didn't take away from the effect. I actually made a calendar through iPhoto and it has several Clinton photos including the one of Gary's plane on the sunset flight...which would have been tragic to not feature full page.

I'm SURE our photographers have enough shots of this year's event to put together a calendar, though we could feature key shots from Clinton's past if needed or desired. Going forward we could capture photos at Clinton with the expectation of creating the next year's calendar.

Looking at a couple of the web sites I think $20 (+ shipping) might be more realistic to cover costs.

Seeing we are looking for ideas....

What about things like the old advertisments from magazines promoting 150-152 as well (a few pic's from those sales brochures look pretty nice too) - it doesn't have to be all Clinton fly-in style photo's - could be 150 flying past a New York Skyline, or in the Desert or Highcountry somewhere - some European 150-152 in thier setting or even (yes I know you saw it coming) in a Aussie environment grin . - of course Robbie, you'd have to come down here and take if for me smile

Just thinking again, "outside" the square!!! grin smile cool
