Living rural does have its advantages... I pay $108 a month for a community hangar, and my airplane sits to one side of the rolling door so they never have to pull it in or out unless I'm going to use it grin

I'm glad your not based at my airport, Tracey! I had my plane pulled into a hanger on Sat. Night in preparation for yesterday's flight. When I returned they had a flight school 152 parked in my spot, using my tiedown ropes and chocks. So, with some hesitation and concern, I pushed my plane back into a vacated spot, and borrowed somebody's ropes and personalized chocks. I hope I didn't cause any trouble, and now I'm hoping my valve cores are still in place!

Thanks for the worries, Tracey! eek

Tried to go put on the cover yesterday but a front moved in while I was driving to the airport. No way can I put the cover on by myself in 20G30 kt. winds! Will try again next weekend.

I guess my spot is not guaranteed either. However there is no good parking there so I leave my car parked in my tiedown spot when I fly away. That's how I make sure I have a place when I get back. They provide fairly new chains to tie down the plane and the runway and aprons are newly resurfaced and painted. I like the airport so far.

Wow, turf wars for airplane parking!

Ours are numbered...pretty much left to the owners. Right now, we are FULL, so when a transient comes in, they really don't have a place to go, especially at night!

I always call ahead when spending the night to make sure I have what I need. MM

I used to carry a small bag with some carabiners and some climbing rope that I put together to carry with me. The test point of the rope was either 3500 lbs or 5000 as I remember it.

I hate carrying all my tie-down stuff; adds weight! Will do it if I know I am going to turf for the night!
