Can a non WAAS Garmin be converted to WAAS?

This is in the category of "Being too lazy to google it".

Not anymore. Garmin stopped offering updating non-WAAS to WAAS units last year.

That being said, there are other avenues one can take for a WAAS source while using a non WAAS 530 especially if your transponder is old and needing to retire.

Mark, what made you decide that? No big deal, just curious. Is your other one giving you problems?

When I had a plane with a KNS 80 installed, I always had a spare (or two), and I was glad more than once that I had the spare. When I sold the plane, I gave the new owner the spares. Parts for older avionics are ever harder to come by.

Wasn't sure which way I was going to proceed. Put some money down on a new radio for the 150.
Not sure if I would use the 530 like it was designed for. It was just a radio for me. I fly a lot of
VFR down close to the ground. Seems the 530 is a departure, cruise, arrival machine, I don't do much of
that anymore. I am going to repost it for sale with a reduced price to let it go.
It's out and works, pictures to follow.
