Hi Elliot,
Thanks for the reply and the pictures.
I wonder if we have a winner!

The problem we are finding is that when we find a salvage rudder it either has the same damage at the top hinge as ours or appears worn by the bush running through the bearing in the tail.
I'm going to attempt to attach 2 pictures here.
The first is the damage to the top hinge (it boken through) on ours
The second and third is the same top hinge on another salvage part we have found.

Could you supply any pictures of your rudder at the top?

Cheers

Nick

Nick -

The bushes from McFarlane that I linked to before are for the bush in the "gap" showing in your pictures - the bit attached to the vertical stab / fin. If you also need the "Flange Bearing" (US) / "Top Hat Bushing" (UK) to go on the rudder - then there are kits at McFarlane

https://www.mcfarlaneaviation.com/products/product/RBC-KT-2/

But they don't cover earlier models like yours.

But I'm betting the bushes showing on your rudder pictures are standard dimension. If you can't get the older Imperial dimensioned bushes in the UK anymore - give me a holler with sizes - I can get you them here in Sintered Bronze/Oil lite from any number of sources. They won't be PMA but I doubt if Cessna's were either till they bought them in from a supplier and tagged them. Of course you would then need to persuade your mechanic to use them......

Hope Elliot's rudder works out for you.

Hi Graeme,
I don't think its the bush or the oilite type bush in the vertical stab that we need.
The bush is sandwiched between the skin (top hinge) & bracket with a clinch nut.
For what ever reason it seems the bush has worn through & broken the top hinge on ours & worn a pocket in others (as per the painted white example).

Thanks for the continued support.
Hopping Elliots had not suffered the same fait as ours!

Hi Nick,
I'm on my way out to the airport now. It's only about 5 minutes away. The damage to my rudder (which is repairable) was on the bottom where bellcrank channel attaches. I'll try to get some close-up pictures for you.

I have taken a bunch more pictures for you. The top mount on my rudder is in good shape. I have included a bolt and what I think is the proper bushing for the top mount. After taking off the rudder to treat some corrosion on the bell crank, we discovered a torn piece just above the bell crank that we could have repaired with a doubler. (sp) After finding a good rudder, (I swear it looked like NOS), we decided to install and paint the new rudder rather than repair the old one. I truly hope this works out for you. I believe the "E" model is fairly rare and we need to keep them all flying.

The rudder is all crated up, glued and screwed. LOL All I need is an address.

If you still need a complete rudder assembly, I just purchased a 1964 Cessna 150D for part out.
