SOLD - $25,000. I tapped out my gas money fund to buy Rat Rod…

I bought a 150/150 for my high altitude flying in Colorado, so it’s time to sell 8255F cry The engine time is high, but it still runs good, though at density altitudes regularly above 7 or 8,000’, it’s a bit underpowered on takeoff. I think at lower altitudes it will continue to run good for some time. It burns/leaks (mostly from the starter shaft) about 3.5 quarts per 50 hours, which I’m told is not bad for an O-200.

You can see my ad on barnstormers complete with pictures here: Barnstormers Ad [barnstormers.com]

Continental O-200A (100hp) 2404.3 SMOH, 866.1 STOH w/Millennium cylinders
McCauley MCM6950 1508.8 SPOH

Appaero Stratus ADSB In/Out connects flawlessly to your iPad/ForeFlight
iCom Com1
KX145 Nav/Com2 w/VOR
Pitot static/transponder check 06/23 (good through 06/25)
LED nav/beacon bulbs
Parmetheus LED landing & taxi lights
Wheel pants
Torque link rebuilt ‘23
“New” generator 07/23 (Installed by the same A&P that flew/worked on 55F in 1966! - see logs for proof)
Zeftronics solid state voltage regulator (new ‘23)
New Concorde RG25XC 12/23
New Tempest UREM37BY spark plugs 12/23

Complete logs since new. No known damage history. I believe one wing was replaced in the 60s or 70s due to corrosion. No known corrosion on the rest of the aircraft.

Hangared in dry Erie, CO for the past 4+ years.

The paint and interior are pretty decent, but also pretty original. I would say 7/10. The exterior polished up pretty nicely.

I have put 600+ hours on this plane in the last 7 months flying all over, but mainly at 5080’ as my home base. The climb performance is much better at lower altitudes, so when the opportunity arose to buy a 150hp 150, I jumped on it. Now I need to sell this for gas money to get the next 600 hours to my ATP rating.

Steve VanDeWeert 720-209-4200. Call or text. I’ll get back to you when I’m on the ground. PM through the site is fine, but I don’t check it daily.

I've always admired a black and white scheme. Maybe it's because I'm gray.

Nice plane!

Good luck, Steve.......time marches on.

It marches better with a 150-150, though. grin

Oh, one more thing:

I'm so glad Rat Rod is staying in the family.......that plane has so much character and finesse. smirk

Price drop. Rat Rod is sitting idle on beautiful days because I don’t have gas money cry

Sale pending, she’s in escrow.
