Hello everyone,
I'm in search of a Continental O-200 crankshaft, camshaft, hydraulic lifters, etc., all yellow-tagged.

Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

smile
Thank you very much!

A yellow tagged crankshaft was posted for sale on Facebook today. Check the Continental O-200 Flyers group.

EDIT: Just heard back from the seller, who says he wants $8500 for the crankshaft.... "firm".

O-200 parts are becoming really expensive. My mechanic purchased an Ercoupe “ramp-queen” for not much more than that with an O-200 engine up front. He was offered more than he paid for the plane because the buyer just needed the crankshaft (the mechanic declined).

Spoke with the rep from Continental that sold us the engine for the raffle plane. According to him, IF you can find one, they are going for 8 to 10K. Continental is waiting for a run of crankshafts to be made so that they can fill orders for engines that they have sold.

Interestingly, spoke with the rep from Camguard and he says he can find serviceable cranks without much trouble. (but you will pay a hefty price for them)

Another yellow tagged crankshaft popped up on Facebook Marketplace today. Both main and rod journals are 10 under. Located in Indiana. $10,000 asking price.

According to my Continental contact, the crankshaft unobtainium issue is not going to go away anytime soon. So you have a FOMO (fear of missing out) marketplace. With that comes the, I have what you need pricing, take it or leave it. Yes, I have several crankshaft that are tagged and in my inventory. However, they are all earmarked for upcoming overhauls. One must look at it this way, if I sold one of these cranks, what am I going to replace it with in this market and at what price???
