No, Bob! 1966 was the last year for the 287-327. Between 1967 and 1992 you could find 290ci, 343ci, 360ci, 390ci, and 401ci ohv V8's in AMX's and others. "The Machine" made the 390ci famous, while the 360 was great in a Javelin. 343's had a big following as well. The 401 had a lot of torgue, and was found in trucks most often, but was special ordered in cars a lot because of it's cubes and brute power. Many aftermarket speed parts were available for 343's, 360's, and 390's.

Thanks, for the memories!

Narrative: CARGO DOOR OPENED ON TAKEOFF AND CARGO FELL OUT. CARGO HANDLER DID NOT LATCH DOOR PROPERLY.

I have been looking all day and I can't find the cargo door on my 150. Would someone tell me where to look? Also, I am in the market for a "cargo handler".

Thanks, Paul!

I saw your "congrats" on another thread! It's about time SOMEBODY came to their senses and yanked this thread back to it's roots! Should have known it might be someone who knows the rules! Someone like YOU! I was just reading the FAQ's above, myself, which includes forum rules. No doubt, you're intimately familiar with them, as am I!

Why is a post's subject so important?

The first post of a given thread establishes the subject by which all subsequent replies will be known. Once there's been a reply, the thread subject cannot be subsequently changed. It's therefore important to get the subject right from the outset. Make it as descriptive and as specific as possible. For example, 'LCD burn-in questions', is much better than something completely generic, such as 'Newbie needs help!'. Not only is it more likely to elicit a response, but it'll also make it much easier for all posts in the thread to be subsequently located.

Man, truer words were never written! I was all set to learn all about Subaru engine installations in Cessna 150's, and wound up reading about Ramblers? They should have let this thread die in obscurity and started a new thread under a new topic! That would have made it a LOT easier to know what I was going to read before I had to waste time clicking on the link. I need to say, I'm so fed up with the comarraderie, friendship, good natured ribbing, off topic comments, and diversity of personalities here, I think I just might start my own forum, and I'll be the only moderator, so I can screen and edit comments at will. No more of this friendly meaningless banter, no siree! Hell, I'll even screen the membership! Conform to MY rules, or get out! Yeah, that's the ticket! My own forum!

Uh, ..................... Sorry!

Guess I should have started a new thread, huh?

Well now Bill, he does have a point. Losing the topic of the thread is not necessary, but is a feature of this site. It becomes a real problem when a member attempts to search on a specific topic. It is perhaps a weakness in this software. Because (in part) of the randomness of postings, searches are problematic. It is really difficult to find what you want with the search feature.

I belong to this site to learn things I don't know. When specific topics are thrown out as a thread, I want to read about the topic or decide not to. I don't want to wade through the swamp of too much jabbing and frat stuff I don't understand. I have learned how to sift, but I think I miss a lot between the "don't your remember when we did this..." stuff. Some of that is fine and adds to the thread. But when the threads move from "my new leather seats" to the last time you went up in a Stearman; that is a bit confusing.

I get my money's worth, but much of this requires a good "ignore" mindset. I'm here to stay, but I wish I could read the real life stories on another thread.

I know I'm at fault for sidetracking threads now and then. But I guess I dont mind when somone does just that. I relate threads somewhat like a phone conversation.
Example:
I have a friend in Texas that frequents this site, somtimes I'll phone him or he'll phone me, whatever...thing is that the conversation starts out with a specific point such as carburator belt tension. After that the conversation might turn towards the weather, places flown, gossip, making fun of Jeff Hersome ect, ect. Next thing you know an hour has past and the conversation has went 15 different ways from the original topic.
One funny thing is that I've met a LOT of folks from this site in person and remember their voice, when I read their posts I hear it as if they were talking directly to me.

Bryan, that is a good argument and I understand how you and your friend talk. I do the same. Your phone calls are interesting to you, but mostly not of much interest to anyone else. And, mostly, we have no idea what you are talking about. That is what the PM feature is for, I think.

You know, second thought... this is a group consisting of (I am guessing) a thousand members. Most of them look, but don't talk (don't believe this, look at the members. You haven't heard of most.). Many of us talk, but aren't in the groove. There are about 15-20 who have "phone call" status and interject into threads very strange stuff that is pretty much not interpretable. The other 980 of us look and think "what in the hell is this?" I think most people who subscribe are interested in better flying, improving their c150, and trying to solve problems and sticking to it. "Cup of Joe" is the place for the rest of the venting.

I am just responding as a member who looks from the outside. I haven't been to Cllinton for the "man burning" yet, but I hope to this year. I can't wait to get in the groove.

Perhaps "professionalism" is a term we might want to investigate.
