You can do the job with these tools (attached photo below)
These are from Snap-on, but other brands may be equal in quality. Beware of cheap pencil type gauges, they are notoriously inaccurate.

The first two items will not work with the old wheel pants, at least, with the stems installed on my tires. The third item will work if the chuck on it is at 90 degrees to the hose.
It looks to me like the best attachment is a 90-degree chuck as short as possible.
