I'm in the process of trying to locate a 150 for purchase. Today I looked at a 1966 c150 with 3800 on the airframe, 1970 since SMOH and 1000 since STOH, 2 year old paint, interior 8/10 new vinyl, new tires, 2 new magnetoes, VFR only, new transponder, carb heat gauage, one VOR. Ran strong, nice looking airplane, always hangered, she's asking $14,000. Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated.
That is too much money (my opinion). I was asking that much for mine (1750 SMOH and 650 STOH, nice airframe) before I found a problem with the engine. This one is almost 200 hours past TBO with 1000 hours on the top end. I wouldn't expect much more than 200 hours left on the engine. And that is if it is in good shape. Plan on doing an overhaul if you buy it. Might be sooner, might be later.
Sounds like it will be nice plane once the engine is done. It will not be easy to sell like it is, though.
PS It's a little tight, I'm 6"4' 200 lbs.
Starting in 1967 (150-G), the cabin is 3 inches wider.
