Sorry Mark, but I believe that your mechanic is mistaken. A separate prop logbook is NOT required for a fixed pitch propeller. The fixed pitch propeller is considered part of the airframe. It can be serviced as such, and logged in the airframe logbook. It would be perfectly legal to purchase and install the above prop with a mechanic's signature alone.
