Some of you may have seen my post about the ferry permit ? the short version is that I ferried a Cessna 170 from one airport to another for a student of mine, so that it could get an annual and minor maintenance.

While I was pre-flighting the plane the mechanic asked me if I knew anyone who needed a O-235 with the 125HP conversion ? 0-time rebuild. Little did he know that I have a 152 with a high time engine and have been looking at options for the next year or so.

He said the instructor at the University of Alaska Anchorage who heads up the A&P program rebuilds 2-3 engines a year in his spare time and this is one of his projects. I asked him how much he wanted for it and he said $10,000.

I?m thinking about it. I?d have to research it more, and would go talk to the guy who rebuilt it, but I?m thinking if it all checks out, and if he?d take $8,000 - $9,000 for it I might just make a run at this thing.

Thoughts?
