Has anyone heard about the recent purchase of a large number of 152 by the Chinese government? On my recent trip to California I met a few folks that mentioned this. One fellow was trying to purchase a 152 and many that he called on had been purchased by Chinese buyers. He was told each time that the people from China had the 152's disasembled and shipped off. Do any of our members know more about this?

There was a thread somewhere that the Chinese are using them to reverse-engineer the 152.

I've seen enough examples of Chinese workmanship (or lack thereof) that I wouldn't buy a Chinese product if my life depends on it.

In Plane and Pilot magazine Nov. 2007 "With gorwth projections in China at more than 2,500 pilots needed per year for the next 15 years, the needs of the industry are staggering." This is why they probably want the 152's.

?????
The People's Republic has no General Aviation to speak of. The only 'civilian' aircraft flying (besides airlines)are:

- business helicopters in the South - Hong Kong, MAYBE Shanghai, and those are for the Chinese super-rich. The pilots are probably associated w/ the military.
-some limited ultralight activity.

I am not aware of any move by the Chinese government to open up GA activities. Perhaps they're going to market a Chinese version of the 152? The way I see it is... that's a GOOD thing.

And as for Chinese technology: yeah, they build some shoddy stuff, but their aircraft industry has been pretty sound, if derivitive: The Nanchang CJ series, the Chinese-built MiG....

I heard they were looking for an outlet for all the lead paint they have. Paint them and send them back.

Yeah. We give it all away to places like COMMUNIST China - our buddies, right? When the hell are we gonna learn?

We send 'em 7th generation computers and we get lead and arsenic-based counterfeit takeoffs shipped to us in droves.

Anyone remember how our wonderful "trading buddies" tore apart the plane that had they forced down back in 2000?

The Chinese Communists. Yup. Our buddies.

Dump on your own people too. Charge our citizens $40,000/semester to go to college, and then reserve places for them to learn from the best then go home and build a uranium enrichment facility to hold us hostage and sell to some place in the Mideast. Yeah. OUR buddies.

Don't get me started. I know all the crap about not being able to ignore them - the 1.3 billionover there. But come on. Here's our buddies backing Iran, shipping arms to Africa and Venezuela (also our buddy...), artificial currency controls vs. the dollar... oh yeah.... our friends.

Sorry gang, but I feel pretty strongly about this. I don't trust those SOB's as far as I can throw 'em.

We'll never learn.
