Thanks bunches Chris! And welcome! That's a darn decent price on pants considering what others are asking.

Lessee, If I bought the carbon fiber and shipped it to him, would he make a set out of it?

Vacuum-bagged with a core material would be a plus! grin

That'd be like....SWEET! smile
...and highly illegal! frown

Didn't I read somewhere in the FARs that illegal parts are only illegal until they've been painted to match originals? And that rule only applies to parts that can be seen. grin

Too bad you'd have to paint them. I like the look of carbon fiber.

Really, would it be that difficult to have them approved? It's not like you're fabricating your own wing spar.

If he's already got the PMA, it shouldn't be too difficult to have carbon fiber approved. Of course, those would likely have to be baked, where the fiberglass doesn't. Vacuum bagging, an oven, more overhead! Would carbon fiber be worth it at twice (speculated) the cost?

Heck, twice the (speculated) cost for carbon fiber pants is still about half of what the Cessna parts places want. smile

What chew need an oven for? We're not talking about building an Formula 1 car part outta pre-preg carbon fibre utilizing a pressure autoclave. crazy

Gawd! I think you need some coaching in 'Bengie's backyard vacuum bagging' grin crazy

psssst...just start with an air conditioning vacuum pump.
