My '76 M model is missing her wheelpants and mounting plates. I checked with the big salvage yards and they said that wheelpants go pretty quick when a new airframe comes in.
So, then, where does one go for a good used set of pants? (New prices are out of the question!) I need all three and prefer the correct shape for the M model.

Harvey Yep! My experience also. You will find wheel pants showing up on eBay and Barnstormers quite frequently. But rarely the "new" style. And you will find that complete sets of "new" pants are even more rare. Usually missing the nose pant. If you do find complete sets, you will also find that the present owners are usually quite proud of them. The same being with the brackets to fit the "new" style pant to your aircraft. But, if you keep looking and be patient? I have been wheeling and dealing now for several months and am still missing that elusive nose pant. Older pants and brackets can be had much more inexpensively. I did have a complete set of older pants. But recently have traded the mains off for a set of "new" style mains. But alas, they too were missing the nose pant. I just might fly the mismatched set for a while....... Bill, just how much older are we talking? I don't like the "pointy" wheel pants that Cessna had for awhile.

Harvey Yep! The 1966-1968, 1969-1970, and 1971-1973 do have some differences. But essentially all the "pointy" type. I actually prefer that style. But since I was able to pick up the mains that are suppose to be on our airplane. and I do not now have to change the brackets now............... Lazy! Ya see!!  Before I paint these pants. Harvey, the wheel pant part numbers you are looking for are: 0541223-16 0541223-17 And the mounting bracket part numbers are: 0441225-1 0441225-2 Unfortunately, it appears that they do not have any of the 0441225-1's in stock......... (Note: Only these mounting brackets will fit these wheel pants. You cannot use earlier style model mounting brackets!) Oh! And the nose pant part number is: 0543079-1 (No need to look. They do not have any.) (Turning out to be my favorite salvage sight just because of the neat search mode. Aircraft Spruce have a collection of pants and so does Wag Aero - they are about 50% more expensive than the second hand place Bill mentioned...
....But...They're new!!!! no need for any repairs etc
Pants are from $163.00 ea - new Brackets vary from 75.00 upward - new The wheel retaining nuts that screw onto the axle new are the most expensive bits, I recal getting a Cessna price for around $300.00+ Aus, but I managed to secure some from a guy at Clinton in 06 for $5.00 ea (what a bargain)
A/S and Wag-areo also have brackets for the new style pants mentioned above
