I'll almost bet that if I compared the Wag-Aero spinner to the original Cessna spinner, they would be nearly identical. But, I don't have a Wag-Aero spinner... or the proper Cessna spinner to compare it to! frown

Oops! Allow me to rephrase that. The FAA will demand to see your logbooks. For most people will comply out of fear. But, legally, they need to request specific information. You have your rights. I suggest you run it past your aviation experienced attorney.......................

I had a friend go through this process. Thus the reason I sound so assure of myself. Several times the FAA "demanded" his logbooks. He response was that he would be more then happy to copy any part of his logbook as long as if the request was in writing and specific in nature. So, when the FAA realized their bullying was not going to work, the FAA ultimately requested specifically the information they wanted. My friend specifically complied. (Covering any other information that may have been on those pages copied that were not part of the request.) End of matter.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

No fishing allowed

Sheesh! What can get started just from a lil statement made in jest!

OK, here's [store.wagaero.com] the link to the Cessna 150 style spinner and backplate.

They are listed as code 8, which means that they are meant for use with experimental aircraft. I should have read that more closely.

(c) The owner or operator shall make
all maintenance records required to be
kept by this section available for inspection
by the Administrator or any
authorized representative of the National
Transportation Safety Board
(NTSB). In addition, the owner or operator
shall present Form 337 described
in paragraph (d) of this section for inspection
upon request of any law enforcement
officer.

Seems to me the FAA can ask to inspect all the records and they don't need to specify a specific reason.

I asked the question on the AOPA board and someone posted an NTSB ruling that privacy issues are not a valid reason to refuse a FAA request to inspect a pilot's logbook. Admittedly, the case cited concerned a pilot logbook and not a maintenance logbook, but the reasoning would still apply.

If a local FSDO backed down on request to see a maintenance record in its entirety, it may be that the FSDO employee just didn't feel up to pressing it. If he had, he probably could have forced the issue. The bottom line is the logbook is an official record and anything in it is subject to review. It's not a diary or privileged information. Don't put anything in it that you wouldn't want the FAA to see.

Bill, that does not allow you to certify non-approved parts. And you know it......... Please don't provide mis-information to the un-knowing readers of this board, who might fall for this....

I know you are simply baiting other knowledgeable readers on this board to offer comment and complaint, but others may not understand this.

Aw hell...

just get the FAA approved part, bite the bullet 'n' be done with.

Play by the rules. It's one less headache and potential issue.
