Robbie, Kind of hard to beat these ANR headsets [ marvgolden.com] for the money. Justina likes hers. They are the Lightspeed QFR's under Golden Eagle's name. Bill Grants Pass, Oregon I agree...an excellent alternative to used headsets.

Comfortable, clear sounding and great sound attenuation. We have an old set of 20k's for us (which are finally starting to crack), but when they die, I will hopefully find a trade-up program with lightspeed. In the meantime, however, I do like the QFR's. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 2,412 Likes: 68 Member/1500+posts | | Member/1500+posts Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 2,412 Likes: 68 | Question: Will ANR headsets get rid of the static from RF interference? Or just excess cabin noise?

I believe the principle involved is that the headset has a microphone to pick up ambient noise and feed it back out of phase, hence the the noise deadening.

Bill Grants Pass, Oregon I bought a Lightspeed ANR headset last week. I spent about 2 hours with it on Saturday. It was very comfortable, and GENERALLY, did a good job. However, about half the time I was getting a really annoying, really above annoying, noise in the right ear. It was kind of like spits of interference. It was definitely from the ANR circuitry because the volume control had no affect. Maybe I got a faulty unit. Anyway, I took it back on Monday and exchanged for passive DC's. I will report on the DC headset as soon as this stinko weather clears up. Like Jeff Davis says (from all I've heard) the Lightspeed QFRs are really great passive headsets and I've given some thought to buying the deluxe model for Jo Ann, as she doesn't fly all that often and would find them much more comfortable than the heavy Telex ANR she uses now. Noise seems to bother her a lot less than it does me, so I think she'd be pretty happy with the passive unit. IMHO Birdie...and maybe 150/150s in general...are just damned noisey!
