One thing a seller is often faced with is finding a good A&P in some far-flung place, to do an inspection on that plane they've got their eye on. Yeah, I know we can post here for recommendations, but these things often have to be decided pretty quickly, and who's to say that the club member who really has the inside skinny for that town is even perusing the message boards during that time?

Anyone ever check out the Mechani-X Files [cartalk.com] database over at Car Talk's website? Wouldn't it be nice to have something like that for A&Ps? Particularly those who really know what to look for in a 15x. (Actually, it would be useful for more than just pre-buys, but for work in your hometown, you've got local people to ask for advice.)

Does such a thing already exist? If not, should it?

The simple approach would be to just add a new forum here for just recommendations and nothing else. You can check out Tiki Central's special Locating Tiki [tikiroom.com] forum for an idea of that sort of thing. There, subject lines are to written in a certain format, and certain details (address, city, state, etc.) must be provided in each thread's first post. It piggybacks off the forum's built-in search functionality.

But the idea is that the recommendations would be done proactively, so that they'd already be there whenever a prospective buyer needs them.

Thoughts?

This sounds like a very useful database that would be very helpful to buyers, and sellers, and new owners. I certainly would support it, and consult it.

Yes. It's called Cessna Pilots Association.
