I would like to share a couple of examples of actions by companies that have gone the extra mile to gain my loyalty an support.

Lightspeed: I purchased a used Lightspeed headset. A year or two passed and the ear cups were deteriorating. I contacted Lightspeed to find out which ear cups would be the appropriate to purchase for replacement. The representative I was talking to me said if I would just give him my address, they would send me a new pair free of charge. The open willingness of Lightspeed to stand behind their product has earned them my loyalty. I will purchase Lightspeed products in the future and let people know of my support.

Lowrance: I purchased a AirMap 500 second hand from Dan. One day it refused to take a charge. I contacted Lowrance to get it repaired. They returned with an offer of shipping me a refurbished AirMap 500 at a greatly reduced cost. In the mean time I found the problem with a broken pin in the charging connector. Of which Lowrance sent me a new one of which I paid shipping. I needn't send them my defective unit. The open willingness of Lowrance to stand behind their product has earned them my loyalty. I will purchase Lowrance products in the future and let people know of my support.

Knisley Muffler. Since CWI was balking at standing behind the muffler I purchased from them with less then 70 hours on it. I contacted and sent my muffler to Knisley. They contacted me everyday concerning the status of the repair. Did it quickly. And further offered that even though the written warranty was for a year. If I had any problems beyond that to please contact them and they "would make it right" by me. The open willingness of Knisley to stand behind their product has earned them my loyalty. I will return to Knisley for all my aircraft exhaust needs and in the future will let people know of my support.

Those are just a couple of examples of the aircraft related companies I have became associated with that apparently believe in their product enough to back them up above and beyond what they are legally required.

That's awesome, Bill. Mr. Westerman has often told me that you can't judge a company by how perfect their product is, but by how they make their imperfections right by the customer.

Your list exemplifies all of that.

That Mr. Westerman is a smart man, indeed. grin grin I guess he ought to be for as old as he is! wink

Bill, another I would put on that list would be,, Electronics International. Customer excellence! 3 years ago,, I purchased a UBG-16, within 4 months one of the toggle switches screwed up. They had me UPS it to them,, and UPS back to me on their costs. Doesn't sound like much,, but I saw the bills that UPS was charging for that,, the total there and back was $250 US,, I've found Mathew to virtually help with anything,, including contacting Garmin on my behalf and providing me the required info I was looking for. I wonder,, Why did I end up with five of their instruments,,

The companies are out there that are upright and upstanding. Too bad the few bad ones that have a monopoly (or think they do) stink up the marketplace.

And yes... the Mr. Westerman fella is a wise owl. And a gentleman's gentleman to boot.

I'd add PlaneCover.com, Control Vision (AMC unit and tech. support post-purchase) and Member Shelby's Company TnWings (for interiors, seat restoration, and his great "eyebrow" restoration service) to the list.

Also PlanePlastics (although their interior panels are not particularly cheap) was very nice to work with during my recent interior re-hab project.

Good post, Bill.

Companies that give good customer service should be recognized.

TnWings (run by Shelby Isham and his mom Diane) is first and foremost in this category - of earning respect and loyalty.

In whatever category you wish... integrity, honesty, openness, quality of work and a more than fair price and innumerable other things....

They set the standard.

You can not go wrong with Shelby and TnWings.

I would also include Chief Aircraft. But, I must admit that may be a bit prejudiced. Because when I need anything it is just a short jaunt from our hanger! Very handy! Sometime maybe a bit too handy! smirk

I used them on your recommendation for some of the stuff (I would have to sort through the invoices to remember what). I found them to be great folks.

Garmin is still supporting the Tommorow/Apollo line from the original Salem, Oregon location and that's always been a great bunch of folks there.
