As I mentioned in another thread [cessna150-152.com], I logged a record (for me, anyway) amount of cabin time last Sunday in a 152. For some reason, I was much more comfortable then that I had been on previous xc flights, even though they were all shorter.

Now, this might have been just because I've been getting used to it. Or because I lucked into having the seat adjusted just right. Or because I finally figured out how to stick one of my legs over on the passenger side, and sort of fold up the other one so that... well, it's not so easy to describe, but it felt comfy.

But a part of it might be this new wallet I was using. Some company in So. Cal. makes them out of sailcloth, and they're designed in such a way that they're very, very thin. As advertised, it's actually thinner, fully-loaded, than my old wallet is completely empty.

(Yeah, I know, I could just remember to stash my old, Costanza-style wallet in the flight bag, and then remember to get it back out when I landed, but where's the "new toy" fun in that?)

Anyway, here's the web site [all-ett.com].

And no, I'm not getting kick-backs from these people. Just another satisfied customer who likes owning cleverly-made things.

The cross country wallet (at least the Clinton XC) for me is sadly a completely empty wallet!

Well that's one way to create a thinner wallet, isn't it? Just don't let money stay in there for too long!

The quickest way to create a thinner wallet is to have your plane serviced . Afterward, your plane usually performs better because of the weight-reduction in your wallet.

What...NO YELLOW....how am I supposed to color coordinate to my Goldwing for crying out loud.

I really need a new wallet, but they look like they may be a bit wide for the ol jeans pocket. They obviously are either wider or longer or both...how do they work that way (and where does the big wad of $100 bills go that I need for emergencies). Oh....sorry.....forgot the decimals

Yeah, no Yellow is quite the oversight, ain't it?

They are a bit "taller", which makes it a little fiddly when putting bills in and out of the top edge. But it fits in my jeans pocket just fine (think of how much room you have on either side of your wallet in that pocket normally). In fact, it fits pretty much exactly in the front pocket of a standard dress shirt. I just checked.

Jeff,

I'm sort of a freak about quality products myself. One of the very best companies in the WORLD as far as I'm concerned is Filson (Filson.com. In fact, their motto is, "might as well have the best".

My other passion (besides aviation) is training hunting Labrador Retrievers. I've used (read ABused) Filson products for years while attempting to keep up with hard charging Labs through some of the roughest habitat imaginable (briars, thorns, marshes, etc.) - and their products have always surpassed my expectations. What's cool is that their field bags are made of the same quality materials as their hunting garments and their hunting garments will stand up to anything you can dish out.

I've used a couple of their field bags as my flight gear bags over the years(I have both a large and small field bag). I rely almost exclusively on their guide sweater vest to keep me comfortable during my Michigan-winter flights. What's awesome is that it's EXCEPTIONALLY warm without being bulky.Check out their web site and if you decide to invest in any of their products, I can almost guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

I have a Filson wool coat that dates back 30 years or more, not really sure, other than it was something my mother gave me to wear years ago. Very nice and durable.
