Hello,

Looking for two control yokes for a C-150A (1961). Can be the handles only - without the shaft. One broke, and I want to replace both with a matching set.

Can you use a newer style from a 1972? I will have a pair available in a week or so after I change mine out to the padded version, one generation ahead of my current yoke.

Padded Version - where did you get them? - I thought other than the Bow Tie style(1) there was only one other rams horn version (2), and the Pad was optional, or should I say interchangable with the with the Version 2 yoke

If there are other options I'd like to know - the only non standard padded arrangement I thought you could get (as far as I knew) was those Warren Gregory add-ons which fit the basic rams horn yoke

They came from a salvage yard from a later year 150. I'm not sure what to call them, but they seem to be essentially the same yoke I have now with the Cessna padded center piece glued on. Mine are not the nice padded aftermarket version like posted above.

You had me going there for a minute thinking there might be a different version out there I was not aware of - I too would like to get a nice looking set of those square-ish pads (like those of the 1973 model - see sales brochures on the club site) for my plane - at the moment, mine have just the stuck on checker badge for the Aerobat, which are really looking a bit ratty in my eyes

If you have the squarish "bow tie" yokes, and one broke, then you must have the plastic ones. These were covered in what was originally proposed to be an airworthiness directive, but later became an SAIB (Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin) instead. (which notably does not show up in the FAA's index of SAIBs, I found it with Google) There is a Metal/plastic coated version of this yoke that you need to look for.

The yoke and shaft are not separable and should be replaced as a unit.

The earlier oval underhung yokes are metal with a plastic coating and would also work. I suspect the later ramshorn yokes would be too high for comfort, though that is just a guess. Your IA might have some issues with legality of installing them, also.
