For both of them, I've had people send loads of emails asking for pictures of every little detail and complete documentation. We get to the point where a price is agreed upon and they promise to send a deposit. Then...... nothing. After a week or so has passed, I'll send emails and place phone calls trying to reach them. When I finally do, they say something came up and they decided not to follow through with the purchase.
Grrrrr..... I'm not looking to make money, just unload a couple of vehicles so I can spend the money on yet another purchase. I totally don't understand the dreamers and why they think it's okay to waste somebody's time. What's really annoying is that in both cases I've told another interested buyer that the Rover or airplane was already sold when it turns out it really wasn't.
Double Grrrrr......

I figured I was paying not to deal with the flakes. To me, it was worth every penny! I actually think I came out ahead, if you consider the amount of working time I would have lost or had to make up to deal with it. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 5,465 Likes: 23 Member/5000+posts! | | Member/5000+posts! A word of advice if I may.... When I am selling something, I never tell anyone the item has been sold unless the money is in the bank - its only taken of the market once that has happened, in other words.... first in best dressed. Even after I have taken a deposit, I always leave the door open with other prospective buyers by saying whilst I have a deposit, if something happens to the sale, I will call them back, or alternatively, tell them to check back with me in a few days to see if its been finalised. You just cant afford to be caught out by, as you say...tyre kickers!!!

They will use your generosity to drag their feet.Tell them that another party is working to beat them and you will get better a better result.
Nothing is real until the cash is in hand.

That gives the buyer the sense of urgency to follow up on the deal if they are really interested. The flakes never call back. I benignly advertised my rental house slightly below market value and had lots of phone calls but no lookers. I jacked the price up another $250/month and started telling callers I already had an interested renter, but would still show the house just in case they didn't take it. The second caller after that looked and took the house on the spot! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 13,969 Member/10,000+ posts! | | Member/10,000+ posts! The second caller after that looked and took the house on the spot! Well Carl, That line is the quickest way to turn me away. The first time a seller says that I need to hurry because there is another buyer interested, that is the end of the deal. I will not play the game. The same for when I sell. I will offer the item at a fair price. If the first question is "will I consider a lower price?" before even asking about the items. The item has been already sold. I play fair as a seller and I demand to be treated the same as a buyer. But, it's no game and I'm not playing. If buyers would "play" fair I'd play fair, but the majority are wasting my time. If "another interested party" is enough to turn you away, so be it! You weren't that interested anyway! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 9,828 Likes: 139 Member/7500+posts | | Member/7500+posts Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 9,828 Likes: 139 | Selling a plane has to be tough. Buyers are already convinced that the seller is hiding something.
UNLESS.....your seller is a personal friend of a personal friend. Trust goes a long way. Unfortunately, only a few of us have had that luxury. If you buy a plane from a friend, and you crack a cylinder in the next month...well...that's just the way it goes. But, if you buy a plane from a stranger, and you crack a cylinder, then it's, "That lying SOB knew this crap was gonna happen."
