I figured I'd start a new thread on this one.

I just spoke to a nice gentleman about a '66 150 on Barnstormers. He doesn't mind at all me asking or saying anything here about it so I will! Tell me what you think.

Cessna 150 1966 clean and good flyer TT6108, SMOH 1190 King 170B, Transponder, Intercom, headsets, and Pilot 111 GPS. Located in Moses Lake, Wa

Cylinders are 76/77/76/73 at last annual. It has 4cyl EGT, or cylinder temp (he is not sure at the moment). He is selling it for a friend. His son in law is a mechanic and does all the annuals. The owner lives in Othello, just moved from Idaho. At $14k it seems like a deal. And he says the last inspection had no corrosion.

Hey Matt

It certainally sounds like a good starting point - with your previous requriements in mind!! - some pictures wouldn't go astray grin

My only comment would be....an independant inspection is a must, whilst I would not say or suggest that his mechanic might be missleading you with his appraisal, a fresh set of eyes can only be a good thing to back up his comments for your peace of mind

Cheers

Yes, anything I get will have an independant inspection for sure. See this link for pictures.

Ohhhh, it's got the later model panel in it too - handy if you want to load it up with "other stuff" at some point as well

Hmm, that makes me wonder why it has a different panel than other 150F.

I agree with Matt, it looks like one that merits further consideration.

Good luck!

Here is the tough part, Matt. As mentioned before, you should find a mechanic that you feel comfortable with, and can trust first. Or at least a knowledgeable owner to take a look with you. When ever you take the word of another mechanic you are putting yourself at risk. There is at least one member here that lives in that area that I bet can help you out. Let's see if he offers his voice?

Jeff??

Have you checked the Club's listing of year by by year changes to see if this airplane has the specifications that you desire? Like, it does have the swept tail and back window. But it doesn't have the bowed out doors to enhance cabin room. If that is important to you.

It is probably a 1967 Cessna 150, as it has the "square" rather than the rounded instrument panel. Many sellers are ignorant to the actual model year of their plane, and go by the year it was actually first sold, but like new cars, the next year models are sold in the end of the previous calendar year.
Check the S/N to be sure, many buyers prefer the newer panels as it is easier to upgrade with modern radios/instruments.

I have a 1968H that has the same panel as a 67, and that panel is 70's looking to me. The bottom and top seem to have been changed, looks great!
