Where is a good place to buy refurbished 13 gallon tanks for my 1969 Cessna 150J. Mine at present are still fine but could they be used for a core to be refurbished also in the future? New fuel sending units would also need to be installed at the time of replacement of the tanks.
Why do you need to replace your tanks? Unless damaged or leaking there's really no need to replace them.It is a big job to remove the tanks,..the tank covers have to come of, the straps removed and the hoses/drains disconnected..... New fuel qty transmitters are avail. from McFarlane, and are about $250 each.....
Here's a picture of the tank cover removed and the "surprise" broken fuel tank strap I had to repair.... The staining is dye from 80/87 fuel over 33 years.....(dried out gaskets).... There are places to refurbish tanks, but usually owners just find good salvaged ones. If yours are OK, I don't foresee you having to replace them.
ya i did the same thing take em out clean and paint good as new and to clean the inside get a lot of 1/4 size ball bearings and some varsol and tumble that tank for a good hr each
They are a PITA to get out, and you will find broken parts, but there's no reason to go out and buy new or refurbished ones. Heck, the refurbished one looked just like yours once.
