Fellow 150 Pilots,
I ordered the leather seats/foam from Jason Cooper, of Cooper Aircraft in England after seeing his offering on ebay. The workmanship/quality is superb. See Graeme JW Smith's (Atlantic_Svcs), August 15, 2011, review and experience with the thread I started, regarding these seats. Graeme has a 1970 model "K".... When I tried to fit them to my 1969 "J" model, I learned that the "J" has seat frames that are tapered out, to conform to the fuselage, and the backs are taller, so the cushions didn't fit.I must say that Coopers Aircraft has the best customer service that I have experienced with is restoration project, and he immediately offered to make it right, by having me send him my frames (at his cost), and fit new cushions to my frames, and then sent them back to me. Sooo, I offered to sell the cushions he send to me, for him, thus saving him the return freight. They are appropriate for the seat frames that are for the "K" model and newer; that have the smaller, square seat frames. The price is $549 plus shipping (my cost), which I think is incredible. The color is gray. Again, see Graeme's posting of 8/15/11 to see his seats and the simple installation instructions.
My 150/150 "J" model floatplane is at Krakon Aircraft, in Lincoln, CA for the paint job, now, and it will be painted as per the USAF Academy Flying Team Airplanes with the white top/red stripe/Air Force Blue bottom. For the restoration, I had very good experience with Tim Mix, A/P, IA, in Mulino,OR. He has a very small shop/hangar and doesn't mind working with "hands on" type of owners. We worked side by side for several weeks, and turned out a very nice plane. His specialty is sheet metal work. I will post pictures etc. later, but wanted to offer these cushions/upholstery to the members, as I feel it is a very good deal, If you have the proper frames.
