Didn't mean to derail the thread from the Darter but thanks for the thoughts and responses on the upgrading to a 172. I agree with the thought that it is just a big 150, I'd like a 182 but the fuel flow and constant speed prop scare my wallet. Not too worried about mx cost (labor anyways) as I'm an A&P and will proabably get my IA next year.

I would say that if a 1976 C150 is older than BOTH of you then you are a couple of young, smart, up and comers who enjoy the finer things from yesteryear. More "Retro" loving Yuppie types than Red Neck. Depending on your family situation you could be what my Aunt used to call us - "DINKs" Double Income, No Kids but certainly Lovers of classic airplanes

How Close am I?

I've been considering redoing that signature line lately. My Redneck friends have told me that I had to turn in my Redneck membership card the day I bought an airplane. At the very least they think I should be downgraded to "Hayseed" I'm not so sure. I'm still in touch with my inner red-neck

Close, got the "DINKS" right, first time I've heard that term. More redneck then yuppie but too close to DC now to be considered redneck, grew up coon hunting and raising cain in Ohio then the wife moved us down here for her job and all that changed. The plane is a mechanic special, more bare spots then paint but it is a flying work in progress....Guess it has been a year, man time flys...defiently quicker then the 150

DINKs were common in late-90's, then those people became SINKs (single income, no kids), and now they're NIWKs (no income, with kids).

So tell me. Did you buy a house in DC or did you tow yours down? Did you ever have to pay a cover charge to visit your wife at work?

Well the lovers of classic airplanes and dinks part was right so 2 out of 3's not bad. No cover charge at the "social club" for me, after all I'm a high roller, everyone who owns an airplane is right?? Wife wouldn't go for the trailer idea, I liked it, instead of her always rearranging the place I'd just hook the truck up and turn her 90 degrees, like a whole new place anytime you want.
