I need a voltage regulator P/N 6611001-0101. If you have one or know where I can get one, PM me or just post answer.

I have a 44-year-old, probably good one sitting on a shelf in my garage. Several years ago I had it replaced with a Zefronics R1500-A voltage regulator purchased from Aircraft Spruce ($144). The reason I replaced the old one is that I was troubleshooting an erratic voltage problem and I thought the problem was a faulty voltage regulator - it turned out to be a faulty master power switch instead.

So, I've held on to the old one, even though the new one is working OK. Why don't you just buy a new solid state one like I did?

A question for the experts: any reason why my old, original p/n 6611001-0101 would be better than my new Zefronics?

No reason at all.

However, it sure makes for a handy trouble-shooting tool and is great to have around. Also, when you head out on a long cross country, it doesn't cost anything, weight wise, to toss it in the baggage compartment and take along as a spare.

I have one that I carry just for that exact same purpose. 'Cept it's from Auto Zone. grin

I just laid my bad one on the counter. The older gentleman looked at it and said, "Guess anything I have is worth a hundred bucks today, huh?" I told him I'd be ashamed to tell ya how much I'd pay today. He laughed and said, "Hmmm, lets see..... 1973 Ford Galaxy with the big motor..."

Indicative of this guy's experience, it fit like a glove and worked perfectly, clearly identifying my old suspect voltage regulator as the culprit.

What's the part number? I don't have a clue. It's in my plane's baggage compartment. grin

That's if you have an alternator. For the older, generator-equipped birds it's VR-22 (aka VR699) [autozone.com]... or so I have figured out. smile

Ever notice how new guys ask a question and then never come back to check for an answer?

Ha ha, Mark. Some old guys ask question after question, but never listen to you anyway. It's all good. grin grin
