I have been looking for some handles and such for a 150M.
None of the usual vendors seems to carry them.
Parts like Cessna No. S1685-3.

Any suggestions?

Have you gotten any prices yet? There has been a guy on ebay selling those handles and all the hardware except screws. They see to going for $80 and up a pair. I would like a new set for my bird but can't handle that yet.

Gentlemen,

Never buy "new" parts on Ebay without doing your homework! Often times these guys buy parts at retail from the dealer, and sell them on Ebay at inflated prices. One guy gets double price for gas caps! Always ask here first, and somebody will gladly give you a part number and retail price! (Be sure to let us know what serial number your bird has as p/n's differ considerably.)

Then there are the parts that are just plain ridiculous. One outfit was auctioning a Cessna towbar and claimed it was over $200 bucks from Cessna. I looked it up and they were right although you can buy a brand new perfectly functional aftermarket towbar for a fifth of that.

And if your read close that are not PMA/STC'd. For experimental use only. He just says that they're the same size as the ones on a 150.

Probably no big deal in practice, but the price sure says "APPROVED".

As for "APPROVED", these are interior parts, changeable by the owner, no approval needed. That's what allows you to make vent tubes, change plastic, modify arm rest, change sun visors, and other stuff, as the owner, no approval needed. We can even remove and paint the instrument panel, as it is not structural, can't do it on most Piper Aircraft though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here please.

I agree with most of that, but my AI said if it is permanently attached (screwed or riveted, etc.) he wanted it to be approved.

Personally I'd just replace with what I wanted and $80 is too much. I just refinished mine with SEM white and reattached them. Seem to be holding up fine.

Wow, some of these threads get crazy ...I bought 2 from Cal-Aero for $12.50 each, and found another at Ronson Aviation for $5.42.
