How much do you think one should offer for this?

1973 Cessna 150L 0-200-A

3612 TT 1796 SMOH
X mode C, ICOM ICA 200 VHFcom
Wheel Pants
Flown 2 hours since July '04,
Needs an annual and C of A.
New mags, carb, vacuum pump, tires,
All ADs done
Hangared, All books
Paint - probably original 2 out of 5
Interor - probably original 1 out of 5

It is at a local airport!

You will probably need an overhaul if not now then very soon. I would offer 15K and see if the owner will negotiate. Just my .02.

Airplanes with better numbers have sold for less!

2 hours in 2 years? The next annual's gonna cost somebody!

Much less than $15K!

Silverlining had just 1,700 hours total time airframe and engine when I sold her in March, interior a strong 8 (completely redone interior in 2004), exterior a decent 6, four channel electronic EGT/CHT, Metco Wingtips, Whelen Comet flash strobes, MX300, Child seat, Hooker Harnesses, Spin On Oil filter kit, and even a VG kit (uninstalled) Price: $16K.

If that price seems kind of low, here is my math: The engine was 40 years old and near TBO, never been overhauled. Cost to overhaul the engine, somewhere between $8K-$10K. As I see it, the airplane would have been worth about $26K tops with a fresh engine, about $24K with a midtime SMOH. Do the math, $16K is fair.

Hey, I know lots of folks ask far more for their airplanes, believe me, they cross my desk everyday. In my opinion, the typical asking price is about $5K too high. I also see airplanes advertised month after month without selling. I set my price fair, sold to a friend, we both knew the price was correct, so no haggling required.

The airplane you're describing? I personally would not pay more than $12K for it, if I'd buy it at all.

Thanks for all the input, guys. The add says $14,000. Cdn or offers. I think it could be fixed up to look real nice in and out. (You sure can get a paint and engine overhaul cheaper than we can in Canada.) I'll have to take a closer look at it to see if it has any of the extras you quote.
Thanks Again!
Jean.

Anything can be restored, Jean!

The question is, at what price?

It's usually cheaper to pay extra for one already restored!!
