Well here's the deal, keeping In mind that I don't know exactly what the insurance company will do.

They may give us some amount of cash settlement if the airplane is not deemed a loss. That would be good.

They may total it based on damage to control surfaces and such. It is beat up pretty bad but I don't know what it would take to deem it not airworthy. I say it is flyable because I have been up twice with no issues whatsoever. But legally I don't know.

The thing is the plane has 14000 TTAF, 2300 SMOH, a beat up interior and now a dented up exterior. Logically/financially it would be best to sell it to the insurance company because we would never be able to sell it for the $20K we could get. However my heart says I should keep the plane and continue to enjoy it because it does fly and run well.

I am not certain I would look to buy it back from salvage auction. Maybe.

I dunno. I really don't want to buy another plane. Sigh.... I really appreciate the thoughts and feedback.

Thanks Hans! Google transolator says "Pickling complete"!! I guess that is the interpretation for completely stripped!

Sorry Eric I am late to answer your question

The reference to a C172 is because the seller is seeking for a trade for a 172
It's only 45 minutes away, let me know if you want me to stop

Eric

I know of a 150 for sale in the Prince Albert area. Good shape, was rebuilt by an acquaintance. A friend is looking at it also, but if he passes and you are interested, I will pass on the info. Kijiji is a good resource to try as well.

What does the damage look like on your bird? The negligible damage criteria is in the maintenance manual structures section. Depends how much you might want to "massage" things to keep your bird.

Eric,
I maybe upgrading and letting my 150 go, but it won't be until September or so. Currently have the wings and tail off for a strip and repaint. Less than 3000hrs, new Rourke custom dash, new c/b's and flush mounted GPS, 406 elt, Stc'd gauges. Recently flew it from New Brunswick to Winnipeg and back, great airplane. AME owned/maintained/flown.
I'd be looking at 19-20K range for price.

That sounds good Mark. We are still waiting on what the insurance company is going to do. Pretty certain it will be a loss. Hoping that they will prolong things all summer since it still flys great!

Keep me posted.

Hi john. Thanks for the notice. Please let me know if it remains available.

I have tried all the usual search methods including kijiji, controller, barnstormers, trade-a-plane, Canadian plane trade, Lespac in Quebec. Am I missing any?

Thanks!
