Hull coverage in my former partner's policy, lapsing this month, excludes flight, but has hull coverage, Not-in-motion, plus in-motion. This on-the-ground-only hull coverage is fully as much as the liability.

Does hull coverage, on ground only, make any sense? Not in motion, for instance, would basically be while in the steel hangar.

Do you get liability only? What coverage do experienced C150 owners generally get? Information is needed, because the only source so far is the insurance people.

Attached is a copy of my policy through AOPA/AIG. It was at $575/yr from 2003 to 2005. This year it went up to $615/yr.

I carried not in motion hull for years. Didn't want to risk a tornado or windstorm destroying it. Figured I'd take my chances while I was in it, but when it was parked in the hangar, I wanted some coverage. Hangars do catch fire (ask Gary), and hangars do collapse, due to storms, other things running into them, and due to age or poor construction, snow loads, etc.

I want liability isurance just in case I run off the runway, maybe in a cross wind, and hit somebody's Baron or Citation.

I agree. I had a friend that had little cross wind problem and ran off of the runway and hit three other planes in one instant at Newberg OR. This was about ten years ago. I went out the very next day and bought more renters insurance. It was sobering lesson. The FBO had insurance and they paid to fix the four airplanes involved. They then turned around and sued him personally for the entire cost a month later whcih his personal umbrella policy wouldn't pay.
