Welcome to the forum, Chris!

I have an H model, but have discovered mine has the wrong spinner. It blocks most of the oil cooling holes, resulting in running hot in the summer and low oil pressure (because the oil is too hot). Be sure you get the correct one when you find one.

Good luck!

Hi and thanks for info and the welcome, it seems like wrong spinner is somewhat common. Do you know if there ever was an STC for earlier scull cap spinners on H models? Thanks again!

Chris,
I have had a 68 H for about 30 years. It has always had a skull cap spinner on it. It is the stock spinner (look at the equipment list for the H). the longer spinner, bulkheads were a option. NO STC skull cap spinner is a stock part , so you just do a logbook entry..

I have a hard time getting my oil up to running temp.and it only got hot once when a mechanic failed to put the baffles in correctly after a annual..

Michael, I see,I have commuter. Can I or my mechanic do log entry and which year cap would you recommend and where to get it. Wag aero has basic ones for $50. I have the pointed standard equipment spinner, has plastic fwd bulkhead that is starting to look rough, which is the issue now thanks for reply Chris

Chris . . read this:

http://150cessna.tripod.com/c150propsandspinners.html

It says for 59 thru 63 models, but good info anyway.

Chris,

Yes Wag aero has the correct spinner that is approved FAA PMA. Looks like the one on my plane. as in the link, do not over-tighten the center bolt it will twist the bracket..

https://www.wagaero.com/skull-cap-spinner-small-size-5-faa-pma-d.html

Don't see many 150's with skull caps since they really don't look that cool but they work great without any hassles.

Although our props are not listed, I would have the mechanic install it (recheck the prop bolt torque) and do a log book entry as a minor change. A 337 filled out and mailed directly to Oklahoma never a bad idea and goes into the permanent record

the Plastic fwd bulkhead in the cone spinners don't make a lot of sense especially here in Arizona. All the plastic just becomes brittle and cracks. (age doesn't help). then it wobbles and you get cracks in the spinner..Just another avoidable problem in my eyes..

Sell your spinner on Ebay, A lot of guys have cracked ones..
