There aren't too many of those. I think there was an issue with them running hot? Could be wrong.

I've seen one or two of the 400 Comanches. My God... those thing SCREAM!!!! Climb like a homesick banshee and fast. I'd LOVE to experience the ride in one of 'em.

Fabulous airplanes.

The 400 is rare, only 148 were built in 1964, somewhere around 100 remain. The twin turbo was an aftermarket STC, 8 airframes were supposed to have modified.

My IA said that twin turbo came from the factory. He claims only 2 came that way. He says you can see it in the engine log book.

I haven’t seen the log book. But I suppose you could write out a check for it in those days and they’d do it.

I am curious...is $2000.00 the cost to replace the plastic panel (labor etc)? I bought one for a Cessna 172 about five years ago and it was only about $150.00 US for the plastic part. Installing the lower panel plastic takes about two days on your back in the airplane. That will be the case for either panel...plastic or otherwise. Still $2000 is a bit high...must be CD? or USD?

I haven't check the cost on a factory, plastic panel but it seems that the pricing on Cessna parts have gone through a somewhat aggressive trend upward.....think Atlas rocket on lift off as a point of reference.

I would not be shocked if the plastic panel from Cessna is 2K USD.

I replaced the lower panel on a 150M. An original Cessna part was available for five times the price of the Plane Plastics one... and it would have been totally worth it. The original part comes cut to fit with all of the holes already made and labels silk screened on. It's a very easy install compared to the one you have to trim manually.
