New guy here just getting into GA looking to at this 1968 150H.

https://barnstormers.com/classified_1366702_1968+CESSNA+150H.html

Can anyone here recommend someone to do a pre buy inspection near Doylestown PA?? (I know the ad says lewes DE but the plane is in PA)
Also the owner sent me a copy of the log books and the plane only flew 2.5 hours from 2009 to 2017, He has put 200 hours on it from early 2017 until now. should I be concerned with this???

Thanks and look forward to being a 150 owner smile

Hi Matt! Welcome to the club - you will love it here! I am anything but an expert, but although the plane sat for a LONG time, 200 hours in 12 months should have revealed any (major) issues. The compressions are good, and although that isn't the be all and end all, it is a great sign. The logbooks, if properly "maintained" will tell a lot - spend some quality time pouring over them.

That's a very nice looking airplane! I too have a 68H. I sure love the look of the wheel pants on that one. The paint and interior look very nice. The equipment is almost identical to mine.

Most everyone on here will be more helpful than this! Good luck!

Eric

Welcome to the Club, Matt.

We also have a 150H, but the one in the ad looks a lot better than ours. Our useful load with full fuel is 386.4 lbs. Based on the recent flying, I would not be terribly concerned since the engine is about mid-time. The main concern I would have is potential corrosion in the cylinders and maybe the cam. A mechanic can use a borescope to take a look at the cylinders and see if any corrosion is present. Good luck!

Welcome to the club, Matthew! We have a Cessna 150/152 fly-in every year in Clinton, IA. If you get a plane by then, or even if you don't, you'd be welcome there.

Thanks that’s exactly what I’m worried about. Hopefully someone in here can lead me to a a&p in the area.

My useful load is 493 pounds (1107 empty per the latest amended W&B) before fuel (so only 358 pounds full). I can squeeze two of us in normally with full fuel, but when my wife wants to go someplace and shop that's an issue smile But I am usually solo anyway.

There are a few members in PA - no idea if they are close or not - so hopefully someone in the area will chime in!

Welcome Matthew! I'm just north of Doylestown at Pennridge. I could take a look at the plane for you but I can't do a pre-buy. I'm not an A&P/IA. I'm not familiar with the shops on the field at Doylestown. I've heard good things about P-Factor Aviation at the Pennridge Airport. Pennridge is about a 20 minute drive to Doylestown. My mechanic is based in Slatington and I'm sure he'll be able to help out with the pre-buy as his time permits. The trip from Slatington to Doylestown is a bit longer though. About an hour or so.
