For anyone wanting to upgrade, I pulled a Garmin 530 (non WAAS) out of Mighty Mouse last year for the 750 upgrade we did and it's just sitting stored in my hangar and needing to find a new home.
It has everything you need except a wiring harness. It's cosmetically as close to perfect as you'll find and it functions flawlessly.
The package includes the 530, the mounting tray, the back plate, all the connectors and the antenna.
Like I said, it has everything you need except the wiring harness but you'll need to fabricate a new harness with anything else you might install.
It also has the terrain and obstacle clearance option which most 530/430's don't have.
I'll sell it for 4,500.00 and ship it anywhere in the lower 48.
Oh, Garmin does not do WAAS upgrades to 430's or 530's any longer so if you need WAAS, this ain't the unit for you.

Good luck, Jim. While I drool a little over all the extremely nice panels a lot of folks here have, for the flying I am able to do these days the old analog instruments provide about all I need. Otherwise, I would be on this like a chicken on a June bug!
By the way, years ago while working for the Tennessee Aviation Division, the Chief Engineer told me he had done a study of Tennessee airports with regard to the need for ILS approaches. That was pre-GPS. He said 95% of the time (using historical ASOS/AWOS data) you could land at the airports with non precision minima. A 530 would work fantastically without WAAS.
I am sorely tempted by your offered GNS 530. I have offered to allow 4 boys from one family with the aviation bug and a crippled Dad the chance to learn to fly in my C150c, It lacks a nav radio and has a very old com radio that should be retired. I helped install Garmin 530s when they first came out but couldn't afford that class of avionics myself, so I don't remember a lot about them. For instance, is a separate nav head required to use the VOR function? Does Garmin still offer service support for the older 530?
The 530 would offer basic "glass panel" familiarity which would be a real plus, a leg up in todays avionics environment. if you would reply via email at orenickp@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance! Pat
Freddy Williams is buying it for his panel upgrade so it's not available any longer.
Freddy's plane is currently pickled while he's away in Saudi and I'll be hand carrying the 530 to Clinton in July where I'll turn it over to Alan Blevins and Alan will haul it the rest of the way and hold it for Freddy.
To answer your questions:
1. If you're needing VOR functions (whatever a VOR is ) you'd need a Garmin CDI/VOR indicator. I didn't have this piece as this 530 was married up to an Aspen 1000.
2. Garmin still offers across the board support for the 530 with the lone exception of the WAAS upgrade. They have stopped doing the WAAS upgrade but that is probably their way of pushing us to the GTN 650/750 family.
If anything changes with Freddy's plans, I'll let you know.

Sort of - some of the parts used in the 430/530 series are no longer being manufactured. What Garmin has in stock is all that is left. So to insure continued support of their product they've stopped offering the WAAS upgrade. This way they can continue supporting the non-WAAS 430/530s out there.
