The trip to Field of Dreams (in 2013 I believe?) was a real hoot. I’ve been told such excursions cannot be officially promoted by the club for liability reasons. But if I can get the contact info of the good folks at Dyersville IA (IA8) who fed us before, I’ll get in touch with them and see what they say. Maybe they will offer to feed us again. For a donation of course. Then maybe a bus ride to the Field of Dreams.

I’ve also considered going to Mason City (MCW) to visit the memorial where the music died. It’s on my bucket list. But that’s a long trip, about 155nm each way from CWI. Field of Dreams is only 55nm. I might go to MCW on the way home from OSH if I don’t go from CWI.

Speaking of going home, I’m planning on doing the Chicago Shoreline route going home. The Chicago VFR Flyway Planning Chart describes this route. The Chicago skyline scenery is awesome, and u don’t have to ask permission of anyone - just follow the altitude restrictions. And watch out for banner tows!

Tuesday before the Fly In is typically the “Fly out” day.

Another excursion option is the American Pickers store in La Claire. No airport there so this is by car only.

I've brought a lot of people to the American Pickers location. You'll be underwhelmed, but I'm happy to bring you.

I've heard that from several folks. Seems like the most common feedback is: "Well, at least I can say I've been there".
