An interesting piece of aviation history.

Quote
The aircraft has not been maintained to FAA standards. (Ya think?!) The true condition of the aircraft is unknown. Bidders are strongly cautioned to inspect the aircraft prior to bidding.

The aircraft is a highly modified deHavilland C-8A Buffalo consisting of a new swept, supercritical wing and 4 YE-102 geared, high-bypass-ratio turbofan engines mounted in an “over the wing” installation. Upper surface blowing is used to generate high-lift coefficients to provide low approach speeds and steep approach path angles.

That is so utterly cool and amazing. There were times in aviation history when there were funds available to do some very cool research.

Can you imagine dealing with a fistful of throttles, coming down final at maybe 1.15 Vso, trying to land that sucker short?
