Several of the parts suppliers I've tried (Premier Aviation, Preferred Airparts, Cessnaparts.com, Broadie) all sell in packs of 25...

Can anyone direct me to a Cessna parts supplier that is willing to sell parts in small quantities, say one or two?
Thanks,
Mark

What are you trying to buy, Mark?

Sometimes, you can put out to this club that you're buying 25 of something and only need one or two. Then, others say, send me a couple or I'll take the rest. Then, voila, you have none left and you've got your money back.

If you'll let me know what you're looking for, I may be able to get just one or whatever from my local Cessna Dealer. They're usually pretty easy to deal with.

Gary,
I rebuilt the wiring harness to the landing and taxi lights. There's a white 3-pin connector S1638-1 that I need. My IA suggested a Radio Shack part, but that would mean I'd have to cut the female connector S1638-2 which is on the firewall, but has insufficient wire length. That's when I came up w/ the idea only to replace the connector I actually need. If I bought 25 of them it might 'only' come to $15...but only one is needed!

Beyond that immediate concern, I'm also going to need approx 15 parts associated w/ the flap follow up and indicating system- several nuts, washers, bolts, spacers and clamps. Many of these parts are only sold in packs of 10, 25 or 100. Thanks for your offer to get them for me, but I am reluctant to saddle anyone w/ the task of copying the lengthy part nos. and the usual scut work of dealing w/ parts.
If buying parts in bulk is unavoidable and how everyone does it, then guess I'll have to.

I bought 2 of that same part number from Hill Aircraft 2 years ago. Did you ask, or did you assume from the internet price list that they wouldn't break a pack? The internet listing is the way they are supplied to the dealer, but something like this that is replaced fairly often is kept in stock at most dealers, and can be sold individually! If they won't help you, contact Spectrum Aviation [spectrumaviation.org] (Cessna dealer) in Lexington, Kentucky! They've always bent over backwards, for me!

Carl,
I'll give it a try from Hill, w/ Spectrum as a backup tomorrow.
Thanks a lot!

Mark,

I'll call Van Bortel. They may have one. If they do, I'll pick it up for you. If not, I'll probably need one eventually.

For the nuts, bolts, washers and clamps, Try Aircraft spurce, chief or wag-aero. They will sell in single unit quantities. Some things like washers are really inexpensive even in lots of 100.

Carl,
I couldn't get a person on the phone from Hill, so I went to Spectrums' web site and placed an order for parts which came to $61.70. My momentary pleasure w/ it being accepted was broken by the next days' email from Spectrum (Rex) which informed me they would not break up packs and did I want to proceed w/ the order. I claimed that Carl Chitwood of the 150-152 Club sent me because his experience was that parts were sold individually. Back came an email that it's just not done and that a pack may have already been open to accommodate Carl. I totalled the same order w/ the amounts required (in packs of 10, 25, 100) and it now came to $180. I decided to cancel the order.
Back I go to my IA who claims his Cessna parts supplier will break up packs for him because he is an FBO and has an account. He'll be my source for parts in the future.

That's a shame!

I've dealt with Rex and Shirley several times, and never had a problem, and they beat any other Cessna dealer on price! I've never understood Cessna's policy on minimum quantity!

Try Preferred Airparts [preferredairparts.com]. I've bought individual items from them, also. Much of their inventory is NOS overstock, obsolete items, etc., that they've bought from Cessna dealers.
