So, the plot thickens ... the owner didn't have the yellow tags, but the guy who built the engine has them. He claims all new parts except for the crank, which was checked and was well within tolerances. He's got a workorder for the rebuild with all the details, including all the yellow tags. I?m going to pour over the logbook tomorrow and then go meet the guy who built the engine. As it ends up, he lives in my area and will be easy to meet with. This might work after all. Stay tuned!

No go. Lots of reasons, none very interesting, if you'd like to know more let me know, otherwise this one's over.

Terry,

I'm interested. It might not be fascinating, but I would like to learn from your research on this subject. BTW...I love reading this forum/ club. Best investment I've made in my aviation career! I'd like to thank all of the guys who post. I'm just lurking and absorbing info for now. I bought a 67' 150G and have it 1/2 paid off. I'm paying the other 1/2 when I pick her up in a month. I'll have pics posts, and questions to contribute soon. I joined the club to research the 150/152 and it is an invaluable tool. Thanks to everyone's info sharing!

Nathan,

We're only sharing information! You, and those who serve with you, are risking your lives in service to our country! We don't have to understand or believe in whatever political situation may have put you there to appreciate that service. We should be thanking you!

Please pass on our appreciation to all of the troops!

Nathan,

Thanks for the note. I was interested in this motor because it was represented as a zero-time rebuild with the 125HP conversion and the numbers were working out. I?m really not in a hurry to put a new engine in 790, but finding a bargain sometimes encourages me to do things I might not otherwise do. So, I pursued it.

I found out that it is a standard O-235 w/out the 125 HP conversion. Also, the airplane it was on had a nose-in-the-dirt crash in 1985. The engine wasn?t pulled until 1993, and then, it wasn?t rebuilt until 2001, and it has been pickled and sitting for the last 6 years.

What I find interesting after turning this down, is that it showed up in the classified ads at a higher price, under a different owner?s name! I called and when the story was the same I asked him where the engine is and it?s in the same hanger as the other owner!

I?m still not sure what the whole story is, but I really don?t care at this point.

Thanks Terry! I appreciate the info.

Carl, I'll pass on the appreciation...also, I've been reading a bunch of your posts and I can see that you and a lot of others served before me. My thanks to you who gave me the opportunity to serve/ fly/ and live freely. Hope I can make it to Clinton this year! I'm sitting in my tent/ CP in Afghanistan right now waiting for the WX to break so we can come home. Looks like NY just got 100+ inches of snow! It will be a climate change for sure! I'm looking forward to greasy pizza and lots of cold beer! Then I?m taking the wife to Destin, FL (I love that town) for some leave at the Ft Benning MWR resort on the bay. Also, my C-150 comes with a child seat, so were going to get to work at filling it with an 8 lb. money consuming modification (baby). Or I?ll at least get some fun practice trying to install one!
