My instructor is selling her 150/150 here in California, if anyone is interested. Has towhook, aux fuel, increased Gross Weight STC, etc.

What is she asking for it? Neat airplane!

I like the N#. It looks like a 180 Jr. What are the stats; times, price, avionics, etc? The plane is now in California? It is registered in Vermont.

It is nice looking!

The only thing I don't like about it is the tubular gear! The David Lowe STC (140 gear) would have been perfect!

Do you think it really is the tubular gear? It looks sort of wide.

I see it has a polished prop. The "other" forum had a very great and lengthy discussion on this topic.

"8000 TT, 60 hr time since Lycon rebuild, aux fuel, towhook, dual navcom, ils, intercom. All STC's documented, increased GW. Easy to fly, one of a kind airplane!" "$38,000 can sell with all banner tow equipment."
I had my first two lessons in it then went on to rental and my own C-150M, I have seen it take off in about 300' or so, a really nice airplane. Although she said that the interior was a 5. I'll try to get a digital shot of her panel and interior. The outside pix was taken last february. The quotes are hers, she is a 15,000+ pilot and used it to tow banners etc. It is hangered here in California at O63 or Exeter Airport. It is listed in trade a plane and she is selling to buy a Super Cub. (She flew for awhile with the Coors Light BD-5 Jet team.) Any questions give her a call.

[color:"blue"] "Do you think it really is the tubular gear? It looks sort of wide."

I don't know, now! There are several conflicting clues.

The gear legs appear much thicker than the flat gear, and the flat gear does not have "brake fairings" available for the wheel fairings. But, these fairings look custom made, and the axles exit the gear legs low, like the flat gear. If you look closely, you can actually see a row of screws atop the leading edge of what must be the gear leg fairings. These fairings are either reversed, inverted, or custom made to accomodate the 140 style steps, but are used only on tubular gear. The fuselage to gear leg fairings appear to be the ones used on tubular gear. The wide stance (and lower nose) are another characteristic of tubular gear TD's. Not as much prop clearance! You will also note the wheel pants are parallel to the ground rather than the line of flight, which could indicate a modification to the mounting, which can be accomplished by removing and reindexing the axles in the tubular gear without further modification to the wheel fairings or their mounting plates (although I would have just redrilled the fairings, or better yet, left them aligned with flight attitude.)

The whole gear arrangement appears different from any I've seen on 150TD's.

Some folks fixate on gear legs, (although I did notice them) I look at the wing tips and wonder if it has the Sportsman STOL wingtips and leading edge modifications. Be interesting to see a full advertisement with all the details and more pictures. I'm not in the market, but I still look, as you never know when someone else will want one. It is pretty for a fast back. Big spinner looks nice too. Over all effect is more Pacer to me than 180, not that they made a metalized Pacer, but Yes, The N number is a great one. Bet it is fun to fly. Price seems fair.

Another of the gear leg. I could not tell whether it is flat or round, although I think it is flat.

That's one nice panel! Are those float plane braces above the glareshield?

She said that the guy who did the modification to 150/150 added the braces in since it can do 165-170mph, and he wanted it to be strong as it could fly faster than the top speed for a cessna 150.
This is was for level cruise.

Any of you folks that believe that a 150/150 will reach 165 - 175 MPH in level flight please contact me ASAP, I have some ocean front property in Winkler county Texas that I will sell to you at a very reasonable price (no mineral rights however)

Forget the ocean front property!

How about the hunting and fishing cabin with panoramic view on top of a 7,500' peak that I've got for sale in Florida?
Posted By: Patrick_Norris Re: CESSNA 150/150 FOR SALE NEAR ME - 02/28/06 08:00 PM
Or cheap tax-free land in Minnesota or Massechusets?

Or, would ya believe the I - the [color:"green"] Ed Man - would (could???) get a haircut and shave, and wear something other than t-shirts and tennies?

All at the same time?

My God - what are we comin' to???

Ed, it wouldn't be "you". Every group needs an "outlaw", rebel, or dapper character. I would volunteer but our Corp. structure is very conservative.

Nuts to that - I've got a genuine antique bridge in Brooklyn for sale... one of a kind.

Thanks for the article, Gene!

It answered a lot of questions I had, and gave me a few ideas, too! I already have the parts for the tailwheel conversion, and the David Lowe STC. I'll need to buy an engine anyway for 7909Z, so when the time comes, looks like another STC and an O-320 can take up residence in the nose.

Cryin' shame the gross weight doesn't "legally" increase.
Posted By: Gene Roberts Re: CESSNA 150/150 FOR SALE NEAR ME - 03/08/06 01:30 AM
I'll have to clarify but I think that she said that her plane had an increased weight STC, and was one of the few that had that. I'll probably talk to her tomorrow and ask what the increase was, and details.
Posted By: Gene Roberts Re: CESSNA 150/150 FOR SALE NEAR ME - 03/09/06 06:57 AM
I talked to her today and she said that it would go over red line at full power at 1,000'.(165mph +-) Also that the STC for gross was for 1760lbs - that the guy in the article got after the article was written; and that as far as she knows no other 150 was modified like this one. Also that it would cruise at 10,000' at 2500 rpm = 115 kts. The plane is also full IFR.
Posted By: Carl Chitwood Re: CESSNA 150/150 FOR SALE NEAR ME - 03/09/06 01:08 PM
Thanks, Gene! That gross weight increase on a '59 model means I should be able to get one on my '63 (although I noted Katherine's has 180hp)!

Well the plane was sold to someone in Arkansas with their own grass strip - maybe a future or current member?
