I have a friend here who is building a Wag-Aero Cub look-alike/experimental. He and his father are using an O-200 from a Cessna 150.

He mentioned to me that he was looking for a propeller for it and it got me to thinking. Sometimes, members here upgrade their propellers due to a thin prop that won't pass overhaul, or just for no other reason than they want newer or better economy, or whatever else.

So, is there anyone here that knows where an inexpensive prop for an O-200 might reside? And, if it might be for sale, please let me know where it is, how much, its condition, and any other details you feel are pertinent to the prospective buyer.

With it being for an experimental plane, even if it's "well whittled," they could still have it pitched to get their desired static RPM. It's going on a Cub knock-off so it's not like they need every ounce of power the little 4-banger can put out.

Thank you in advance.

May he be better off going with an aftermarket prop, Gary?

He might be...he's just a little tight on cash...building this thing on a budget. He just finished all of the covering.

I told him I'd throw it out there. If there's no takers, he's no worse off. If one shakes out cheap, it could be a win/win.

Personally, I sure would like to put a Whirlwind GA200L-76 prop on my 150/150. But, after the jacked up spitting match over LED's, I for dang sure ain't throwing that out to this group. grin grin grin

But Gary - the Whirlwind GA200L-76 will be nekkid - like the Emperor's new clothes - no one will see it....

We'll be getting a new prop for Sassy in the near future. But it'll be in Feb or so. How much of a hurry are they in?

I have a Warp Drive on the C-85 in my Stits. Wish I could have it on the 150!

I may have an original used McCauley 1A102/OCM 69/48 from my '75 Aerobat that never had an overhaul, but is due one. I could provide it with an overhaul if desired. I have no idea what the overhaul will cost from Jordan Prop Service in San Antonio including shipping to you, or you could have it overhauled yourself. It has 2700 hours. Smooth edges. $650 plus cost of overhaul and shipping. Advise off line. No promises as someone local has shown interest in it.

Would a Wag-Aero Cubby use a spacer with the prop?

I apologize for not saying so, but I recently learned that my friend who initially made the request indicated that the prop from a 150 is too short to work on the Cub.

It's experimental, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. But, you don't put a 172 prop on an RV...maybe the opposite speed conversion applies, here. The Cub is more draggy, and thus, slower.

Thanks for the feedback and offers of the propellers.
