Removed from Mighty Mouse and is for sale:

Garmin GNS 530 Non WAAS

Package includes the tray, back plate, connectors and GPS antenna so it has everything you'll need to install it in a panel.

The unit also includes the terrain and obstacle clearance option which not all 530/430's have.

It functions seamlessly and is cosmetically as close to perfect as you can find. The screen is clear with no smudges, scratches or faults of any kind.

This is the 530 that was removed from MM to make room for the GTN750 that was installed recently.

I've seen pricing on these ranging from around 5,000.00 on the low end to bumping 7,000.00 on the high end so I'll start in the middle and ask 6,000.00?

The ones I've seen don't have the terrain/obstacle clearance option that this one has so that's a plus for you.....a sizable plus, actually.

If you need a WAAS unit, this one ain't for you and I don't believe Garmin is upgrading 430/530's to WAAS any longer.

Oh, this unit will handle 14 or 28 volts systems so it'll work in any 150 or 152 that you may have.....another sizable plus. smirk

One side benefit could be that I fly east while you fly west and we meet up somewhere in Missouri or Illinois and grab lunch as a bonus and we both get back home before the street lights come on. smirk

That would be a fun, fun day.

If you intend to use the unit to fly IFR, you'll need WAAS. This includes en-route and approaches. You can use a non-WAAS unit for situational awareness, but as your sole GPS RNAV instrument, it would have to have a current database and be WAAS capable.

WAAS provides an incredibly accurate and enhanced positional augmentation as compared to non-WAAS GPS navigation.

An IFR-certified non WAAS GPS can be approved for enroute, terminal and approach operations. Even the prehistoric GNC 300XL I have is perfectly capable of RNAV/GPS approaches using LNAV minimums. Granted a WAAS-certified unit can provide vertical guidance to many approaches where available.
