I purchased two brake discs for my 1980 Aerobat 2 years ago for my McCauley brakes. I made 5 landings and put the airplane in the shop for the annual inspection and discovered a cracked brake cylinder. I decided to replace the McCauley's with Cleveland's SO, I still have these two brake discs and they look brand new. I just ran across them in my hangar, Spruce has them for $161 each (no stock) and I will happily sell them for $175 for both plus shipping. They only fit the older McCauley brakes.

Grant,
Not to sound like an idiot, new to the 150 world, but how do you know new vs old McCauley brakes? I’m dealing with a 150L and the discs feel like off-road terrain when you drag your finger across em… so prob gonna need new ones soon.

In an effort to help Vinnie:

Grant, when you say 'older' is that older as in the 3 piece McCauley with the center hub using six (6) bolts to secure the wheel assembly?

I wouldn't have thought Cessna still used that problematic design in 1980 when your plane was built as I thought McCauley upgraded to the two (2) piece design by then (using 3 bolts vs 6 bolts to secure the wheel halves) and eliminated that center hub?

Vinnie, can you tell us if your wheels use the 3 bolts system or the 6 bolts?

First,
Vinnie, welcome to the best airplane type club there is!
Second, if Grant and Vinnie could post pictures of their wheels it would be helpful.

Sorry I just saw this, I have been out in the hangar working on the Baron all afternoon. I will go out and get some pictures in just a bit and post them.

Thanks Grant! I'll grab a pic this weekend when I'm at the T hangar!

Grant,

These are the McCauley 2 piece, 3 bolt design which is the newer (much better) version of their wheel and brake systems.

Vinnie,

My 150 is an "M" model which came with the older, 3 piece McCauley wheels and brakes (junk).

Since your 150 is an "L" model (older than mine) I would assume you have (or had) the older system as well and if so, these rotors won't work unless the part numbers match up?

One would need a parts manual on Grants plane and one for your plane so the rotor part numbers can be cross referenced to confirm this.

On a side note: I will say that if you're still using the old 3 piece, 6 bolt McCauley wheels and brakes, you're probably living on borrowed time. The center hubs from this design are known to crack (very common) and Richard Hollrah has some pretty graphic pictures showing the problem so maybe he'll chime in with the gory pictures.

Also, it's very common for owners to upgrade the wheel and brake system to Cleveland wheel and brakes (like Grant just did, like I did, like Richard did etc. and etc.) so maybe you'll be lucky and someone prior to your ownership already converted yours??

Living on Borrowed Time is the story of my life. Looks like I've got the McCauley brakes. No idea the brake pattern. I did know I bought a bit of a project bird but hadn't priced in new brakes/wheels. Perhaps add it to the list!
Thanks for all the input!
And yes, getting those wheel pant brackets off are on the list too.
