Hi Thomas, I took a picture of my two brake cylinders. The only difference I see is it looks like yours may be TSO C26 "a" instead of "b" that is on mine. Maybe someone smarter than me can chime in.

Also, it's very common for owners to upgrade the wheel and brake system to Cleveland wheel and brakes (like Grant just did, like I did, like Richard did etc. and etc.) so maybe you'll be lucky and someone prior to your ownership already converted yours??

I seldom look at the Classified Ads section of the Forum, but I just happened to do so tonight. Here are a couple of pictures of one of my wheels. The other wheel was OK. I still converted both to the Cleveland wheels and brakes.

You cannot see the condition of the center hub of the McCauley wheels unless you remove the tire and tube. DO NOT forget to remove the valve core and let all the air out before you disassemble the wheel.

Great info and thanks for the pictures Richard. When I bought the aircraft, I had all new tires and tubes put on it so I just emailed the A&P to see (make sure) they inspected the hubs while they were apart. That should help me make a decision on the when to change them out.

Grant, I'm still interested in the rotors... just waiting for my mech to get back to me.

Learning lots!

Not a problem Thomas, if you want me to send them to you let me know. If you don't like them or they are the wrong ones you can just send them back. If you want them you can buy them after you are sure they work. They are collecting dust in my hangar right now along with my old wheels and brake cylinders, one of which has a crack where the brake line elbow goes in. FYI, that is a very common place to crack. When I found the crack I searched and found one used brake cylinder for $420 and decided at that time I would go the Cleveland route instead.

We all learn every day about these airplanes it seems.
