I found a guy in Santa Paula, California (300 miles/4-hour drive for me), who has (he claims) a never used, still in the box McCauley 1A101/DCM 6948. It was manufactured in 1992 (16 years ago.)

He does not have the original propeller log. Is that a problem?

I called him on his cell phone

He wants $2,750. I asked if he would go less, but he seemed intent on his original asking price.

He's placed ads in numerous online aviation publications. The ad below is from Barnstormers.com:
-------------
MCCAULEY 1A101 DCM 6948 • $2,750 • CLEANING OUT THE HANGAR • Mfr'd 2-92, new in box, stored in hangar rafters until now. Illness forces sale. • Contact Bradley A. Babic - SANTA PAULA SKY SERVICES, Friend of Owner - located Santa Paula, CA USA • Telephone: 805.525.2867 . • Posted May 15, 2008 •

Apparently, the guy also tried to sell it on eBay back in May, and turned down bids for up to $1,025

I'm thinking of offering a take-it-or-leave-it price of $2,000.

If he insists on the full $2,750, I'd probably just go ahead and get a new one with guarantee, original log book, etc., if I can't find anything else.
