I am sorely tempted by your offered GNS 530. I have offered
to allow 4 boys from one family with the aviation bug and a crippled Dad
the chance to learn to fly in my C150c, It lacks a nav radio and has a very
old com radio that should be retired. I helped install Garmin 530s when they
first came out but couldn't afford that class of avionics myself, so I don't
remember a lot about them.
For instance, is a separate nav head required to use the VOR function?
Does Garmin still offer service support for the older 530?

The 530 would offer basic "glass panel" familiarity which would be
a real plus, a leg up in todays avionics environment.
if you would reply via email at orenickp@yahoo.com.
Thanks in advance!
