Happens alot. I have known several aircraft that just keep trucking along.

Not a problem until the Feds show up, or worse-the insurance adjuster!
(same with your Medical, BFR, instrument/night/tailwheel/ currency)

When I was an adjuster if the plane wasnt in annual no claim! We never cared WHY a loss happened (at the adjuster level) we just paid claims... if the plane isn't airworthy it (usually) isnt insurable!

I thought that would be the case. However, I just looked through my policy with AOPA/AIG and couldn't find any requirement that the plane has to be airworthy. Still, I wouldn't want to take a chance.
