From what I was told on my MK-12D Cessna replacement, retaining the freq's is matter of changing a couple wires so one is always hot for the memory. Havn't got around to doing mine yet so no first hand experience. good luck with the sale

Steve,

I am not sure what you mean by that. Is there any marking on the unit I could get for you that would tell you what you want to know?

All I know for sure, it was removed a few weeks ago from my 150 for a avionics upgrade, and was working when I removed it.

MK 12D come in a couple of types. If your aircraft was orrigionaly a cessna ARC radio and a replacement radio (no rack change) it would be a cessna direct replacement MK12D. It is possible the the Narco was a total replacement meaning a Narco Rack and Radio. This one would have a different rack. If you go to the Airframe Log you should be able to find the orrigional installation of the radio. You should be able to determine from that.

Also look at the W&B records. While any weight and arm change with a replacement radio would likely be negligible, it might give a hint as to whether just the radio was changed, or "radio and tray" installed/changed.

Better yet, get the part number from the radio data plate. We can look up the part number and that should tell us everything we need to know.

The Cessna replacement Mark 12D looks different than the generic Narco Mark 12D. Like its Cessna ARC counterpart, the replacement Mark 12D is about a quarter inch or more taller than a generic 12D and fits into a larger tray/box.
