Even if not, I personally think the lower total cost of ownership of a 2-place aircraft like a 150 or 152 over the entire period of ownership vs a 4-place 172 will more than offset any difference in resale value you might see. It all boils down to your mission, and whether or not you can afford and are willing to pay the additional cost of owning a larger, slightly faster airplane.
There's a pilot at our field that owned an RV-10, also owns a Bonanza and a Sundancer LSA motorglider. He sold the RV-10 a couple years ago and mainly only flies the Bonanza, but the insurance on it is really getting him. He's kicking himself for selling the two-seat RV-10 and keeping the 6-seat Bonanza, all because the TCO is so much higher. But it trues out at 160+ knots.

But for most aircraft flown for personal travel/recreation, I doubt it . At least for ours, it certainly is not fiscally prudent! | | | | | Joined: Jul 2013 Posts: 6,965 Likes: 1258 Member/5000+posts! | | Member/5000+posts! If the goal is to live a life rich in experiences, aircraft ownership is good value. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,775 Likes: 301 Member/7500+posts | | Member/7500+posts Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,775 Likes: 301 | I agree with you Geoff!
